GeneralLaborer At Shiel Sexton
The General Laborer works as a member of a diverse crew performing a variety of interior and exterior construction responsibilities, mostly pertaining to the installation of firestop systems at commercial sites. This is an entry‑level position; we are willing to train motivated individuals.
Role Expectations And Competencies- Assist with the installation of fire stopping materials, including sealants, caulks, collars, wraps, and fire‑rated systems
- Prepare and clean work areas before and after installation
- Load, unload, and transport materials and tools to job sites
- Measure, cut, and apply firestop products according to specifications
- Seal penetrations and joints in walls, floors, and ceilings to maintain fire‑resistance ratings
- Follow project drawings, specifications, and supervisor instructions
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Adhere to all OSHA and company safety policies
- No experience necessary; experience in caulking, drywalling, and/or general labor preferred
- Eagerness to learn and grow skills in the general construction field
- Must be safety‑minded and comfortable working with scaffold systems, shoring, weather protection, and installation of fall protection systems
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to submit to a background check and drug screening
