GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector
. This position will serve as a Construction Inspector reporting to the Project Supervisor or Resident Project Representative on the project. The ideal candidate will perform construction observation and inspection on a variety of Transportation projects throughout Indiana. The candidate will interact with clients, contractors, and the public in meetings and other communication forms. They will provide documentation of construction progress through daily reports, status reports, and other forms of data reporting.
- Knowledge of transportation construction and quality control practices.
- Knowledgeable in the Indiana Department of Transportation, Indianapolis Department of Public Works or other governmental agency specifications, standards and inspection requirements.
- Read and interpret construction plans, drawings and other technical documents.
- Inspect work of contractors and document project progress and quality of work.
- Ability to measure and calculate quantities of materials.
- Perform material testing.
- INDOT certified technician.
- Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy objects such as testing equipment and material samples.
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain and navigate steps, stairs and ladders.
- Ability to work in hazardous environments and use required Personal Protective Equipment. Environment will include dust, noise, tripping, and overhead hazards.
- Demonstrates progress in assisting Task Managers and Project Manager as needed on technical aspects of the project; well-rounded in aspects of consulting and the industry.
- 12+ Years of Experience
- H.S. Graduate
- Driver’s License
- Perform and oversee field monitoring on various multisite/phase construction projects of moderate to large scale, scope, and/or complexity, including placement of concrete, earthwork, roadway paving, buildings, structures, foundations, and building materials. Generates and substantiates reports and documentation regarding construction, materials, integration, equipment, and operations.
- Can manage tasks.
