Overview
A leading fiber optic infrastructure provider is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee underground fiber construction and inspection activities throughout the Fort Wayne market. This individual will spend the majority of their time in the field, driving between active job sites and ensuring inspection crews and contractors are executing work safely, accurately, and according to project specifications.
This team is supporting major fiber builds tied to large-scale data center developments, creating a long-term pipeline of work and significant career growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee daily field operations for underground fiber construction projects.
+ Manage and support inspection crews across multiple active job sites.
+ Ensure crews are adhering to safety standards, project specifications, and customer requirements.
+ Track daily production metrics including drill counts, footage installed, and construction progress.
+ Attend pre-construction meetings and coordinate with municipalities, inspectors, and stakeholders.
+ Conduct quality assurance inspections and verify work is being completed correctly.
+ Identify and resolve field issues before they impact timelines or budgets.
+ Provide daily updates and reporting to project managers and leadership teams.
+ Serve as the on-the-ground representative for remote project management teams.
+ Travel throughout the Fort Wayne market to monitor construction activities and contractor performance.
Required Qualifications
+ Experience managing underground utility, telecommunications, or fiber optic construction projects.
+ Strong understanding of underground construction methods, restoration, and field operations.
+ Experience overseeing contractors, inspectors, or construction crews.
+ Knowledge of construction safety practices and jobsite compliance requirements.
+ Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project documentation.
+ Valid driver's license with ability to travel locally throughout the market.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Fiber optic construction experience.
+ OSP (Outside Plant) telecommunications background .
+ Experience supporting large-scale utility or data center infrastructure projects.
+ Familiarity with daily production tracking, field reporting, and construction documentation.
Work Environment
This is a highly field-focused position. The Construction Manager will spend most days outdoors traveling between active construction sites throughout the Fort Wayne area. The role requires hands-on oversight of crews, coordination with inspectors, and regular interaction with project stakeholders to ensure projects stay on schedule and meet quality expectations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
