Salary Range: $127,000 – $170,000 annually
Job OverviewLead construction operations at the GM Fort Wayne Plant and play a key role in delivering complex industrial and manufacturing projects. As the day‑to‑day field leader, you will oversee safety, quality, schedule, subcontractors, and site operations while serving as the primary point of contact for plant leadership and project stakeholders.
This role reports daily to the GM Fort Wayne facility and requires an experienced construction professional who thrives in fast‑paced environments, builds high‑performing teams, and drives successful project execution from the field.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise scheduling, cost control and resource management for multiple projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Lead and mentor large teams across complex projects.
- Act as primary contact for owners, architects, and engineers.
- Resolve project issues, maintain compliance, and drive performance.
- Four‑year bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Twelve years of industry experience, including eight years of supervisory experience in construction technology, methods, equipment, and work procedures.
- Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
- Experience with construction methods and techniques for industrial projects.
- Basic understanding of craft jurisdiction and working under collective bargaining agreements.
- Awareness of structural steel installation, crane setup, masonry, heavy rigging, critical lift plans, and various building systems.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to undergo annual Motor Vehicle Records check.
- Experience serving as main point of contact with owners, architects, and engineers.
- Experience planning and overseeing field work, including staffing, materials, equipment, and schedules.
- Experience leading and developing teams to deliver work safely, on schedule, and to quality standards.
- Experience managing site operations, schedules, reporting, and communication across project teams.
- Experience resolving issues and maintaining compliance (safety, permits, budget), and driving project performance.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to position objects and operate tools or controls, use a computer keyboard, and maneuver in confined spaces. The employee is regularly required to move up to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds, and to travel to project sites. The position requires both indoor and outdoor work, exposure to temperature extremes, wet or humid conditions, dust, and occasional loud noises.
The employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment and to work overtime and weekends.
