Safety Specialist - Construction

We are in search of a proactive, independent Safety Specialist in the bustling city of Fort Wayne, IN
. The perfect candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, a strong grasp of OSHA regulations, and excellent communication skills to promote a culture of safety on-site. Your main task will involve ensuring compliance and managing incidents with professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: Interpret and navigate through complex OSHA regulations to guarantee full legal compliance on site.

  • Safety Planning: Spearhead the creation and execution of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and thorough Site Safety Plans
    .

  • Incident Management: Serve as the primary contact for on-site incidents; oversee reporting, investigation, and resolution while upholding professional standards.

  • Conflict Resolution: Utilize strong interpersonal skills to address safety disputes on-site and enforce compliance among diverse teams and subcontractors.

  • Data & Documentation: Manage Excel spreadsheets and navigate through various contractor compliance websites using advanced computer skills.

  • Self-Directed Oversight: Supervise daily safety operations with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and dedication to workplace excellence.

Required Qualifications & Certifications
  • OSHA 510: Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry.

  • OSHA 30 (Construction): Comprehensive training on construction-specific hazards and prevention.

  • CHST Certification:

    • Candidates must possess an active Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification.

    • Alternative:
      Applicants without a CHST qualification who want to take the exam must show a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a safety-focused role.
