Safety Coordinator – Data Center Construction, Fort Wayne, IN

Next Level Technician is hiring an experienced Safety Coordinator for a long-term opportunity supporting a large-scale data center construction project in Fort Wayne, IN. This position is ideal for a safety professional with a strong commercial construction, electrical, data center, or industrial background who is comfortable being hands‑on in the field and working directly with technicians, contractors, foremen, and project leadership.

The right candidate will be responsible for helping maintain a safe jobsite, conducting daily safety inspections, identifying and correcting hazards, supporting safety training, and ensuring crews are following OSHA and site‑specific safety requirements.

Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $37.00-$40.00/hour

Monday–Friday / Day Shift

Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily jobsite safety walks and inspections
  • Monitor construction activities to identify unsafe conditions and potential hazards
  • Ensure employees and subcontractors are following OSHA, company, and site‑specific safety requirements
  • Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, stretch‑and‑flex activities, and safety orientations
  • Review and assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and other safety documentation
  • Document safety observations, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions
  • Assist with incident investigations and root‑cause analysis
  • Work closely with project managers, foremen, general contractors, and trade partners
  • Coach field personnel on proper PPE, safe work practices, fall protection, ladder safety, electrical safety, and other jobsite requirements
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor safety performance
  • Assist with emergency response procedures and site safety planning
  • Maintain accurate safety records and daily reports
  • Help ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and applicable site requirements
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the overall safety culture on the project
Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is comfortable in the field and knows construction safety. Experience in any of the following is highly preferred:

  • Data center construction
  • Commercial construction
  • Electrical construction
  • Low-voltage / telecommunications construction
  • Industrial construction
  • Mission-critical construction
  • General contractor or subcontractor safety
  • Construction site safety management
  • Electrical safety / NFPA 70E
  • Fall protection and elevated work
  • Confined space
  • Crane, rigging, or lifting operations

The ideal candidate is someone who can communicate effectively with field personnel, identify issues before they become incidents, and confidently address unsafe conditions when they see them.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of construction safety experience preferred
  • OSHA 30 Required
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of OSHA construction standards
  • Experience conducting jobsite safety inspections
  • Experience with JHAs/AHAs and safety documentation
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working on active construction sites throughout the day
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and navigate active construction environments
  • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with project leadership
  • Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite
