As a Dentist, you will provide professional dental care for clinic patients following established standards, practices, and protocols. Maintain patient confidentiality and ensures compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs a complete oral examination and assessment of new and existing patients:
- Evaluates the medical and dental history of patients.
- Examines x-rays; reviews patients’ records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Records findings in patient chart.
Diagnoses and treats conditions of the mouth and teeth:
- Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures to assist in evaluation of patients.
- Exercises independent judgment and develops treatment plan to address the acute and long term dental needs of patient.
- Removes decay, fills cavities, places protective sealants on children’s teeth, performs extractions, performs selective restorative work (ex. bridges, crowns, dentures), completes cleanings and performs root canals.
- Refers patients to specialists as appropriate.
- Interviews and advises patients regarding dental maintenance and oral health (including medication and treatment instructions).
- Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs as needed.
- Evaluates the dental hygiene prophy upon completion.
Per licensing guidelines, administers medications and injections.
- Supervises the clinical performance of the dental assistants and hygienists as appropriate, providing feedback on performance as needed.
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between clinic visits as required.
- Works closely with Chief Dental Officer to ensure quality patient care.
- Works closely with Chief Dental Officer to ensure individual provider productivity goals are reached.
- Remains current in advanced practice changes within area, and where relevant, translates these findings into clinical practice.
- Actively participates in patient complaint procedures to resolve operational problems.
- Attends and participates in meetings and in-services as required. Participates in professional development activities. Serves on committees as requested.
- Performs duties in accordance with NHC Standards of Conduct and Mission Statement.
- Performs related work as required and other duties (similar physical requirements and OSHA risk level) as assigned.
- Clinical—demonstrates a working knowledge of dental theory and practice to evaluate and provide patient care; maintains knowledge of, and acts in accordance with, current NHCI policies and procedures.
