JOB DESCRIPTION:
The instructional Assistant will support student learning using Montessori materials and district models in small group and one-on-one instruction. Successful candidate must be able to sit on the floor with students during some activities. This person shall support procedures, policies, and discipline within the classroom and building.
QUALIFICATIONS:Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. Prefer experience working with Montessori program; counseling and computer skills helpful and must have a strong desire to see students succeed. Must have a sincere concern for youth, a strong work ethic and the ability to positively motivate students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- New employees must successfully complete their probationary period to be eligible to apply for posted positions.
- Employees must remain in their current position a minimum of sixty (60) calendar days to be eligible to apply for any non-lateral posted position.
- Current non-probationary employees may only apply for lateral positions at the end of each school year.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is required to have dexterity of hands and fingers. The employee is required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. They may be occasionally required to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is seated or walking incumbent will be required to lift, carry and/or push students weighing 25 pounds or more in wheelchairs as assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
