Purpose

Assist teachers with instructional, clerical, student management, and daily life activities for special education students in special education or general classrooms.

• Work Schedule: School year
• Work Hours: Typically within 7:15 AM – 3:30 PM; exact times vary by school needs and hours assigned.

Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. Preference for individuals with previous experience working with students with special needs. Must be flexible, have strong tutorial skills, relate well with students, staff, and parents, possess a positive attitude, and be able to complete tasks independently. Strong office, computer, and oral/written communication skills are required. Knowledge of child guidance principles, basic instructional methods, and willingness to supervise students in community settings.

Must participate in training provided by the Special Education Department.

• Two years of college experience at an accredited college
• Two‑year college degree from an accredited college
• Passed the Para‑Pro Assessment
• One year or 1,000 hours of previous employment in a school or working with children
• Passed annual school‑level evaluations
• Completed 48 credit hours of college‑level classes from an accredited college
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials

Part‑Time

$15.51 to $18.64 per Hour
