In this vital role, you'll support elementary students in special education, focusing on those with autism spectrum disorders. The position is a full-time, onsite opportunity at an elementary school in the greater Fort Wayne area, beginning as soon as possible and continuing through the end of the school year, with possibilities for renewal during extended or new school year terms.

Hours run Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

You'll work with a diverse caseload of K-6th grade students, providing instruction and support tailored to each learner's unique needs. The majority of your students will have Applied Skills needs and a diagnosis of ASD, creating an environment where your expertise as a Special Education Teacher and Autism Specialist will have a profound impact.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Special Education Teaching License in Indiana, with Mild or Intense intervention endorsement.
  • Classroom experience, particularly with elementary-aged children.
  • Proven skill in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Expertise in evidence-based practices for students with autism and/or applied skills needs.
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff.
  • Commitment to advocacy and inclusive practices for all learners.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver daily instruction and intervention, adapting to individual student abilities.
  • Design, monitor, and revise IEP goals for each student.
  • Collect and analyze student progress data.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to maximize student success.
  • Foster a positive, supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings.
