PURPOSE

Assist teachers with a variety of instructional, clerical, student management, and daily life activities for special education students in special education or general classrooms.

• Work Schedule: School year
• Work Hours: Shifts typically occur within the hours of 7:15 am and 3:30 pm. Exact start and end times may vary based on the needs of the school and the number of hours allocated for the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preference for candidates with previous experience working with students with special needs.
• Flexible to meet the changing needs of students and possess strong tutorial skills.
• Ability to relate well with students, staff, and parents.
• Strong desire to see young people be successful.
• Positive attitude and ability to complete tasks independently.
• Strong office, computer, oral, and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices, and basic instructional methods and techniques.
• Willingness to supervise students in community settings.
• Participation in training provided by the Special Education Department.
