Special Education Assistant

Purpose

Assist teachers with a variety of instructional, clerical, student management, and daily life activities for special education students in special education or general classrooms.

Important Details

• Work Schedule: School year
• Work Hours: Shifts typically occur between 7:15am and 3:30pm. Exact start and end times may vary based on school needs and position hours.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prefer candidates with previous experience working with students with special needs.
• Flexible to meet the changing needs of students and strong tutorial skills.
• Good interpersonal skills with students, staff, and parents.
• Positive attitude, self‑motivated, able to work independently.
• Strong office, computer, oral, and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of child guidance principles, basic instructional methods and techniques.
• Willingness to supervise students in community settings.
• Participation in training provided by the Special Education Department.
