Position: Continuing Education | 5hr High School Equivalency Program Assistant

Temporary Position Ending 6.30.2027

Assist High School Equivalency (HSE) special program leader and adult education instructors to provide individualized support to adult education students in orientation sessions, testing sessions, and in the classroom setting. Work under the direction of the HSE special program leader and HSE teachers to assist in intake/orientation, reinforce instruction, assist with student learning activities, and support educational goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant experience working with adult learners or in educational setting.
  • Knowledge of educational/office support practices and ability to work effectively with adult learners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with students and staff.
  • Knowledge of adult education programs, educational technology, and student support practices preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Assist HSE special program leader and adult education instructors provide individualized support to adult education students in orientation sessions, testing sessions, and in the classroom setting.
  • Work with adult education students in High School Equivalency (HSE) orientations, testing, and classroom.
  • Provide individual or small-group assistance during orientations, testing or in classroom alongside program leader and HSE teachers.
  • Assist adult students with educational software, online learning platforms, and computer-based instruction.
  • Monitor organized, efficient process for student orientation records, documents, and files.
  • Support students during HSE activities, assessments, and learning.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with data collection related to student participation and program activities.
  • Assist instructors with preparing instructional materials, classroom resources, and educational activities.
  • Provide program support by preparing materials, organizing resources, and displaying adult student achievements.
  • Assist with student intake, orientation, attendance tracking, and other program-related activities as assigned.
  • Assist with filing, copying, data entry, record maintenance, and other clerical duties related to adult education programs.
  • Maintain student records and files in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Promote a positive learning environment that supports student success and engagement.
  • Follow all district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Supports the FWCS Schools of Success mission to empower all students to reach their potential through equitable and relevant community-connected experiences to ensure students achieve at least one of the 4E's - (Enrollment, Employment, Enlistment, or Entrepreneurship.)
  • Positively promotes and embodies the FWCS Schools of Success six core competencies in our daily work:

  • Mobility:
    Freedom to sit or walk at will throughout the work environment.
  • Strength and Stamina:
    Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to twenty (25) pounds or more.
