- Do you want to help shape opportunities that empower girls through sport, wellbeing and leadership?
- Do you believe every girl should feel confident, included and able to lead?
- Are you passionate about using your voice to create positive change for younger girls in your community?
Join our Enrich Her Youth Steering Group and help shape a leadership and empowerment programme designed by young women, for girls.
We are creating a voluntary Youth Steering Group for young women, primarily aged 18–21, from the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington to help design and shape a powerful leadership and empowerment programme for girls aged 11 - 16 years old.
What the initiative is:Enrich Her is an exciting leadership and empowerment programme designed for girls aged 11 - 16 years old within Camden and Islington.
It is funded by the National Lottery, which supports community projects across the UK, and delivered in partnership by the Youth Sport Trust and Street Games - two organisations that specialise in helping young people grow and succeed through sport and physical activity.
Through fun activities, wellbeing sessions and real leadership opportunities, the programme aims to build confidence, leadership skills and a strong sense of belonging.
As part of the programme, we are creating a voluntary Youth Steering Group made up of young women aged 18 – 21 years old (approximately) to help shape, design and support delivery - ensuring the programme reflects what girls need and want from their experiences.
Your ideas and experiences will directly influence how the programme is designed, delivered and experienced by girls across Camden and Islington.
What you will be doing:As a member of the Youth Steering Group, you will:
- Attend monthly steering group meetings (mix of in-person and online)
- Help co-design sessions and activities for girls aged 11 – 16 years old
- Contribute ideas based on your experiences and perspectives
- Help ensure experiences are inclusive, engaging and relevant
- Support outreach, events and promotion of the programme
- Inspire and encourage younger girls by sharing your experiences and perspectives
- Monthly steering group meetings, held either in-person at the Team GB offices in London or online
- A manageable commitment of around 3–4 hours per month, designed to fit around study, work and other commitments.
- Collaborative working with other young women, programme staff and partners
- Ongoing training and support provided throughout
- Further opportunities to support delivery in schools and community organisations in a paid role, subject to experience and Right to Work checks
- Initial commitment of 12 months
We particularly welcome applications from young women who:
- Are typically aged 18 – 21 years old
- Live, study, work or have strong connections to Camden or Islington
- Are passionate about equal opportunities for women and girls
- Are interested in leadership, inclusivity, community work or supporting young people
- Are open to sharing ideas and working as part of a team
You do not need any previous experience or to be sporty - just bring your voice, ideas and willingness to get involved.
What you will gain:- Practical leadership and facilitation experience
- Skills in teamwork, communication and mentoring
- Understanding of working with schools and community settings
- Exposure to the sport sector and youth programmes
- Training and support from experienced organisations
- Opportunities to build confidence and professional networks
- Valuable experience to support future education and career pathways
