Position SummaryThis Catholic middle school Science & Social Studies teacher develops the whole child by delivering rigorous academics and integrating Catholic values into daily lessons. This includes preparing students for high school by fostering critical thinking, leading hands‑on science experiments, and shaping a Christ‑centered, supportive classroom community.
- Instruction & Curriculum: Teach engaging, standards‑aligned Science and Social Studies curricula. Design inquiry‑based, hands‑on learning experiences to spark curiosity about the world and build historical and geographical literacy.
- Catholic Identity Integration: Seamlessly weave Gospel values and Catholic Social Teaching into lessons, helping students view the natural world and human history through the lens of their faith.
- Classroom Leadership: Maintain a positive, structured, disciplined, and safe classroom environment. Implement effective, respectful classroom management strategies that affirm the dignity of all students.
- Student Assessment: Continuously monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments. Grade assignments, maintain accurate records, and report on academic and social growth.
- Family Partnerships: Maintain open, proactive communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and character formation.
- Community
Collaboration:
Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and liturgical events such as school Masses. Collaborate with the middle school team to support cross‑curricular planning.
- Faith & Character: Must be a practicing Catholic (or hold a deep understanding and respect for Catholic school philosophy) who models Gospel values, moral character, and a commitment to the school's mission.
- Education: Hold a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Middle Grades, or a related content field.
- Licensure: Valid state teaching certification (e.g., in Indiana, an Elementary/Middle School Generalist or content‑specific license) or willingness to obtain one.
- Safe Environment: Completion of diocesan background checks and mandated child protection/Safe Environment training.
Compensation based on years' teaching service.
