Saint Joseph Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, dedicated 2nd Grade Teacher to inspire young learners in a nurturing and academically engaging Catholic environment. Position OverviewThe 2nd Grade Teacher creates a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom where students strengthen foundational academic skills while growing in faith and character. The teacher models Catholic values, builds strong relationships with students and families, and delivers high-quality instruction aligned to student needs.
Primary Responsibilities Faith Formation & School MissionSupport and actively model the mission and values of Saint Joseph Catholic School.
Integrate Catholic teachings, prayer, and faith-based experiences into daily instruction and classroom life.
Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and faith formation activities.
Foster students’ spiritual growth and understanding of Catholic values.
Promote the virtues of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Kindness.
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in ELA, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Religion.
Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
Differentiate instruction through flexible grouping, scaffolding, and enrichment opportunities.
Collaborate closely with the Literacy Coach to implement evidence-based reading instruction, monitor student progress, and support intervention and enrichment.
Implement accommodations and modifications outlined in student service plans, including ELL and Special Education supports.
Integrate technology effectively to enhance instruction.
Maintain organized and aligned lesson plans consistent with diocesan curriculum and Indiana Academic Standards.
Student Learning & AssessmentUse formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress.
Analyze data to guide instruction and provide targeted support.
Collaborate with the Literacy Coach, interventionists, and support staff to strengthen student outcomes.
Maintain accurate records of student learning and growth.
Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and behavioral progress.
Establish a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment.
Implement consistent routines and school-wide behavior expectations.
Teach and reinforce social-emotional skills, conflict resolution, and problem-solving strategies.
Foster student independence, responsibility, and a growth mindset.
Build strong, supportive relationships with students rooted in care and respect.
Maintain regular, professional communication with parents and guardians.
Collaborate with colleagues through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
Work closely with the Literacy Coach to strengthen instructional practices and student outcomes.
Partner with interventionists, ELL staff, and resource personnel to support diverse learners.
Participate in student support meetings, conferences, faculty meetings, and school events.
Engage families as partners in student learning and development.

QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field.
Valid Indiana teaching license (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
