Job Description

PURPOSE

Provide instructional services necessary to educate all students to high standards and ensure that all students meet Internationally Benchmarked Common Core Standards linked to Indiana’s Academic Standards and aligned with federal, state, and district standards, requirements, laws, and regulations and fall within the FWCS/FWEA Master Contract.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a valid Indiana teaching license for the assigned grade levels and/or subject areas OR be eligible to obtain an alternative teaching credential.
REPA/REPA 3 Licensure Options:

  • Technology Education 5-12
  • CTE:
    Trade and Industrial:
    Building Trades 5-12
  • Workplace Specialist:
    Construction 9-12
  • Workplace Specialist:
    Building Trades 9-12
  • Workplace Specialist in related course approved for a CTE pathway
  • Must possess knowledge of effective practices including principles, theories, procedures, and techniques used in lesson plan development and classroom instruction.
  • Possess a valid Indiana Workplace Specialist license or be eligible for Workplace Specialist license based upon 3-5 years work experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience with the construction industry, including but not limited to:
    • Basic understanding of the 6 Construction Trades programs offered at the Career Academy Construction site: carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, civil construction/heavy equipment, and masonry.
    • Possess strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
    • Willing to support dual credit attainment.
    • Possess understanding of work‑based learning and be willing to communicate with multiple industry partners weekly to place students into internships, apprenticeships and other WBL opportunities.
  • Possess a CDL license or have the ability to attain one.

  • Teacher understands how students develop and learn.

FWCS teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to each student, and the link to Indiana’s Academic Standards.

  • Teacher understands the subject area content and how knowledge in the subject field is created, organized, and linked to other disciplines. Teacher demonstrates subject area knowledge and conveys the knowledge clearly to students. Teacher generates multiple paths to knowledge.
  • Teacher uses comprehensive planning skills to design effective instruction focused on student mastery of FWCS curriculum goals.

FWCS teachers are responsible for establishing and managing student learning in a positive learning environment.

  • Teacher creates a classroom climate that promotes openness, mutual respect, support, and inquiry.
  • Teacher creates an organized classroom that maximizes engaged student learning time, behaviorally, emotionally, and cognitively.
