Job DescriptionSt. John the Baptist Catholic School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and faith-filled Director of Special Education to join our dynamic faculty for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of special education and diverse learners. The Director of Special Education will be responsible for expanding our special education department, writing CSEPS, collecting data, and evaluating the effectiveness of our special education services.

- Willing to consistently collaborate with peers to ensure our special education students are thriving in the classroom.
- Able to create a school-wide Special Education schedule that ensures all students are seen consistently and effectively.
- Manage special education personnel including special education teachers and para-professionals.
- Experience working with and writing Behavior Plans.
- Comfortable running parent CSEP meetings, using data to drive goals, and evaluating effectiveness of accommodations.
- Able to write CSEPS, create goals, and help teachers implement and evaluate goals.
- Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of our special education services as well as growth of individual students.
- Create data collection forms that can be easily used in the classroom.
- Communicate consistently and professionally with students, parents, staff, and administration.
- Has a thorough understanding of accommodation and modifications and can help teachers understand how to effectively implement them in the classroom.
- Willing to meet with teachers and parents outside of the school day.
- Possess an active Indiana teaching license.
- Complete all aspects of the required Diocesan Teacher Application.
Qualification details below.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or ability to obtain license in Special Education.
- Valid teaching license/certification for the state of Indiana.
- Demonstrated knowledge of special education best practices, UDL, appropriate accommodations, IEP/ISP/CSEPs/BIPs.
- Experience teaching at the elementary or middle school level.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
