Instructional Assistant - PreK Gen Ed

Job Title

Terms of Employment This is a 9 month position for 6 hours/day (plus 1/2 hour unpaid lunch). This position is eligible for PTO.

Purpose Assist students, individually or in small groups, with classroom work, assignments, projects, or other activities determined by the classroom teacher. Informally assess the students' knowledge of basic skills and material. Collaborate with and report to the classroom teacher. Prepare instructional materials as requested by the classroom teacher.

Qualifications Completion of two years of study (60+ hours) at an institution of higher education or possession of an associate's (or higher) degree is preferred. Previous experience as a classroom assistant desirable. Candidates must have a sincere interest in working with students in the learning process. Effective communication skills. Ability to take direction. Initiative and dependability in carrying out assignments. Patience and genuine interest in education of students.

Awareness and respect for student diversity. Clerical skills, flexibility and confidentiality required. Training for this position may be implemented upon hiring.
