Purpose
Assist teachers with a variety of instructional, clerical, student management and daily life activities for special education students in special education or general classrooms.

School year - Work Hours:
Shifts occur within the hours of 7:15 am and 3:30 pm. Exact start and end times may vary based on needs. - Benefits:

Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. Prefer candidates who have previous experience working with students with special needs, flexibility to meet changing student needs, strong tutorial skills, ability to relate with students, staff, and parents, strong desire to help young people succeed, positive attitude, ability to complete tasks independently, strong office computer skills and communication skills. Incumbents must possess knowledge of child guidance principles and practices and basic instructional methods and techniques.
Must be willing to supervise students in community settings and participate in training provided by the Special Education Department.
Prefer candidates who are highly qualified. A paraprofessional can be considered highly qualified if they have:
- Two years of college experience from an accredited college
- A two‑year college degree from an accredited college
- Passed the Para‑Pro Assessment
- One year or 1,000 hours of previous employment in a school or working with children
- Passed annual school‑level evaluations
- Completed 48 credit hours of college‑level classes from an accredited college
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials
