What You’ll Do
You won’t be stuck behind a desk. In this role, you’ll:

- Help unload vehicles, weigh materials, and sort waste for proper disposal
- Prepare materials for shipment and support vendor pickups
- Set up and tear down community collection events
- Operate equipment (forklift, bobcat—training available if needed)
- Transport materials safely between locations
- Help maintain equipment, vehicles, and facilities
- Work alongside a team that supports environmental initiatives across Allen County
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone dependable, team-oriented, and ready to roll up their sleeves:
- High school diploma or GED (related degree is a plus, but not required)
- Experience in waste management or a similar field is helpful, but we’ll train the right person
- Comfortable with physical work and lifting up to 75 lbs
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
What the Job is Like
This is an active, fast-paced role that takes you out into the community and into the field:
- Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Stay physically active throughout your shift
- Handle materials that require attention to safety and detail
- Interact with the public and local partners during collections
- Part-Time (up to 30 hours per week)
- Overtime opportunities as needed
- Reports to the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Coordinator
- No supervisory responsibilities
This isn’t just a job; it’s a chance to contribute to something bigger. You’ll play a direct role in protecting public health, supporting sustainability, and making Allen County a cleaner, safer place to live. If you enjoy hands-on work, being part of a team, and making a real impact in your community, we’d love to have you apply.
