Systems Engineer – Embedded Systems
Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Salary: $90,000–$100,000 per year (based on experience)
Job SummaryWe are seeking a Systems Engineer with expertise in embedded systems to design, develop, test, and maintain specialized computer systems for application-specific products and solutions. This role focuses on translating user needs into system requirements and coordinating firmware, electronic, and mechanical designs to deliver reliable, efficient, and secure systems.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross‑functional engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure successful system architecture, integration, and validation.
Key Responsibilities- Support system design and architecture for embedded systems, with emphasis on performance, scalability, and power efficiency
- Interpret user needs and translate them into clear system‑level requirements
- Define and clarify requirements for firmware, mechanical, and electronic hardware development
- Negotiate technical requirements with product management, sales, and other stakeholders
- Communicate requirements effectively to project and engineering teams
- Integrate software and hardware components to ensure seamless system operation
- Develop and execute test plans to validate system performance, reliability, and compliance with specifications
- Collaborate with software, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle
- Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including architecture and functional specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar)
- Proficiency in C and C++ programming
- Familiarity with modern operating system coding techniques
- Knowledge of IP protocols and hardware interfaces
- Experience with PCB design tools and electronic design automation (EDA) software
- Hands‑on experience using debugging tools and techniques for embedded systems
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and critical‑thinking skills
