The Collins Collaborative Mission Autonomy team is looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer – Air Vehicle Operations with an active US Secret security clearance to join our team. This is an onsite position in Fort Wayne, IN (preferred), or McKinney, TX, Cedar Rapids, IA, or El Segundo, CA.
WhatYou Will Do
- Participate in collaborative, cross‑discipline integrated product teams composed of systems, software, test, and hardware engineers.
- Support systems engineering program deliverables, including model‑based engineering models, systems architecture artifacts and description documents, and instruction manuals.
- Support requirements development and management for autonomy products, from operational analysis to systems/software requirements.
- Collaborate with customers and the user community to develop and refine autonomous systems.
- Support the Systems Engineering leadership team to provide innovative solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Responsibilities span the full lifecycle of product development, from architecture and design through integration, flight test, and field support.
- Travel occasionally for working groups, system integration and test, customer events, and related activities.
- Work well with other team members, teammates, and disciplines.
- Demonstrated completion of assigned tasks on time and on budget with high quality work products.
- Minimum 5 years of work‑related experience in Systems Engineering.
- Experience with requirement management tools (e.g., IBM Rational DOORS/DOORS Next Generation).
- Experience with requirements decomposition of complex systems.
- Experience with SysML and MBSE toolsets (e.g., Cameo Enterprise Architect, IBM Rational Rhapsody).
- Technical writing experience (e.g., System Engineering Management Plans, Technical reports, Engineering notebooks, Test Plans, Instruction manuals).
- Operational knowledge of air‑vehicle flight and sustainment operations.
- Degree in STEM or equivalent experience; advanced degree with minimum 3 years relevant experience accepted.
- U.S. citizenship and active secret security clearance.
- Domain knowledge in Network Communications, Datalinks, Multi‑Function RF Capabilities, and Autonomy systems development.
- Private Pilot License or aviation concept familiarity.
- Experience in warfare Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, and Education (DOTMLPF‑P).
- Experience leading a team or Integrated Product Team.
- Familiarity with modeling & simulation (e.g., AFSIM), Python, Linux, BDD frameworks.
- Experience with Agile and Test‑Driven Development.
- Self‑directed work with minimal direction.
- Ability to work onsite at least 60% of the time.
- Master’s degree from an ABET‑approved institution.
- Active Top Secret clearance acceptable.
