The Multi‑Product Power & Digital (MPD) department designs FPGAs, circuit cards, and electronics subassemblies for missiles, radars, and electronic warfare systems, supporting all phases of the product lifecycle.

Role Overview

Senior FPGA Engineer – onsite in Fort Wayne, IN. Leverage advanced technologies to design sensor and effector solutions, partner with multidisciplinary teams, define requirements, develop architectures, execute detailed design and simulations, and perform integration and verification.

What You Will Do
  • Provide lifecycle support of production quality FPGA designs for vendors: AMD (Xilinx), Altera, Microchip (Microsemi) using tools such as Vivado, Quartus Prime Pro, or Libero.
  • Generate designs for gigabit serial interfaces, RF DSP, controls, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces.
  • Translate system‑level requirements into FPGA requirements.
  • Architect FPGA‑based systems to determine parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations.
  • Lead FPGA design and coding in VHDL, prioritizing reliability and maintainability.
  • Verify designs with self‑checking techniques, directed and constrained random tests, tracking functional and code coverage.
  • Define FPGA task schedules and drive execution within budget and schedule.
  • Create complete documentation including requirements, verification plans, and user guides.
  • Lead individual designs and/or small teams.
  • Operate with minimal oversight from management.
  • Support internal and external technical reviews.
  • Engage in knowledge transfer activities and mentorship of junior engineers.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in FPGA/ASIC design or verification (VHDL, Verilog, System Verilog). Familiarity with AMD (Xilinx), Altera, or Microchip devices and their design tools.
  • Hands‑on experience with integration and debugging of FPGA/ASIC in a lab environment.
  • Experience with timing closure, clock domain crossing, reset domain crossing analysis, and constraint development.
  • Experience with source code management, design reviews, and code release in a team environment.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field (counts as 2 years of work experience).
  • Design experience in radar processing, image processing for visual/infrared sensors, embedded systems with ARM, Microblaze, or Nios processors.
  • Experience with gigabit serial interfaces and multi‑gigabit transceivers.
  • Constrained random verification using UVM/System Verilog.
  • Experience with High‑Level Synthesis (HLS) and/or vector processors/GPUs.
  • Leadership experience achieving schedule, budget, and technical commitments.
  • Project management skills (Earned Value, Agile Execution).
  • Proposal development experience.
What We Offer

Relocation based on candidate eligibility. Salary range: USD 86,800 – 165,200.
