Position Overview
Sweetwater, the nation's number one online retailer of music instruments and pro-audio gear, is seeking an experienced, driven Commercial AVL Designer II to join its growing Commercial Sound and Integration team. The role involves creating Audio, Video, and Lighting (AVL) system designs and schematics based on customer requirements for small-to-mid sized projects, including studio, sound reinforcement/live audio, and distributed audio/70-Volt categories.
Job Responsibilities- Design commercial AVL systems for customers, subcontractors, and installers.
- Collaborate with Sales Engineers to develop designs that integrate with proposed gear packages and services.
- Engage directly with Sales Engineers and customers to understand project needs and specifications.
- Adjust designs to reflect feedback or changes in scope during pre-sales or project execution stages.
- Use a variety of design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Revit, Blue Beam) to complete sketches and system designs.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and standards in AVL system design.
- Provide designs and schematics for subcontracted projects alongside Sweetwater Integration and third-party installers.
- Communicate with clients alongside Sales or Integration staff to ensure alignment on project expectations.
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 5-7+ years of design or integration experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Revit, Blue Beam, or similar design tools.
- Strong knowledge of AVL equipment and integration in commercial systems.
- Experience working with subcontractors and third-party installers preferred.
- High attention to detail and collaborative mindset.
- Avixa CTS certification (Avixa CTS-D and/or CTS-I, QSC Q-Sys Level 2, Extron AV, Biamp Tesira, Dante Level III) desirable.
