The position is a self‑motivated Staff Electronics Engineer with relevant design expertise and strong communication skills, responsible for developing controls for the HVAC, refrigeration, and automotive industries. The role supports electronic controls from concept through production and is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Key Responsibilities- Lead design responsibilities, including the development and analysis of analog, digital and power circuits such as ADCs, microprocessors, microcontrollers, graphical displays, sensor interfaces, AC/DC power switching, and power supplies.
- Work individually and as part of a diverse team of mechanical, software and systems engineers to deliver new and innovative products.
- Manage small/medium product development projects from concept to delivery.
- Provide design expertise in the implementation of high‑speed and complex designs.
- Apply knowledge of FMEA, tolerance stack‑up analysis, simulation, statistical methods and design for manufacturability techniques to improve robustness and quality of electronic designs, and mentor junior engineers.
- Review technical documentation including requirements, traceability matrices, functional specifications, FMEA, stress analysis, and qualification test plans.
- Coordinate with validation and manufacturing engineers during the New Product Introduction development process.
- Engage with the broader engineering team to support current production designs, including quality improvements, cost reduction, and component obsolescence and failure analysis.
- Use root cause analysis concepts to determine failure modes of field returns and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- BSEE degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 10 years of experience designing electronic circuits and components.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support program engineering and electronics manufacturing objectives.
- Cadence or Altium knowledge.
- Design experience with ARM controllers and processors.
- Knowledge of design and analysis tools such as VHDL, Minitab, Mat Lab, PSpice.
- Strong functional knowledge of electronic components and circuit design including microprocessors, microcontrollers, op‑amps, switching power supplies, standard digital logic ICs, and discrete semiconductors.
- Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
- Experience with EMI and EMC design for robustness techniques.
- Design experience with both C and Assembly code.
- Understanding of high‑volume electronic assembly processes to optimize manufacturing globally.
- Effective communication with customers, suppliers, and global team members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Annual salary: $96,000 – $192,000.
