Position Summary
FPGA Engineer II – Onsite, Fort Wayne, IN. U.S. citizenship required with a current or obtainable DoD Secret clearance. The role is part of the Multi‑Product Power & Digital (MPD) department, which designs FPGA and digital systems for weapons and electronic warfare products.
Responsibilities- Provide full lifecycle support of production‑quality FPGA designs for AMD (Xilinx), Altera, and Microchip (Microsemi) devices.
- Generate FPGA designs for gigabit serial interfaces, RF DSP, controls, data links, embedded processing and processor interfaces.
- Assist with architecture development of FPGA‑based systems to determine parts, interfaces and Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
- Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability.
- Support design verification using self‑checking techniques with directed and constrained random tests, tracking functional and code coverage.
- Report status to budget and schedule under an agile framework.
- Create documentation including requirements, verification plans and user guides.
- Act as an individual contributor and present work to leadership.
- Engage in professional growth and development.
- STEM degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with FPGA/ASIC design or verification using VHDL/Verilog or System Verilog.
- Experience with AMD (Xilinx), Altera and/or Microchip (Microsemi) devices and tools such as Vivado, Quartus Prime Pro or Libero.
- Hands‑on integration and debugging of FPGA/ASIC in a lab environment.
- Experience with source‑code management, design reviews and code releases in a team development environment.
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field.
- Embedded systems design using ARM, Microblaze or NIOS processors.
- Experience with gigabit serial interfaces, multi‑gigabit transceivers and clock‑domain crossing analysis.
- Constrained random verification in UVM using System Verilog.
- High‑level synthesis (HLS), vector processors or GPUs.
- Timing closure and constraint development expertise.
- Demonstrated leadership of design efforts or small teams.
