Position Summary

Environmental Health and Safety Engineer (EHS) assists the Operations Manager in ensuring compliance with government regulations and company practices across the facility.

Location:

Fort Wayne/Indianapolis (multi‑site position).

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Adhere to company Core Beliefs and safety & quality requirements, including QMS, company policies, and regulatory mandates.
  • Assist Operations Manager in developing the site EHS&S program and in coordinating all plant EHS activities.
  • Support new employee orientation, presenting overview presentations.
  • Initiate and manage risk identification, corrective actions, and incident reporting with the Incident Reporting Database.
  • Facilitate site EHS functions: meetings, awareness campaigns, assessments, and training.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, USEPA, PADEP and other agencies; collect data for required reports and permits.
  • Monitor effectiveness of EHS initiatives and report results to Operations Manager.
  • Lead internal audits, assessments, and support agency inspections.
  • Identify opportunities to improve practices related to energy conservation, waste reduction, and sustainability.
Position Requirements
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • BS degree in safety, engineering, science or a related EHS field.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, negotiating, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team structure to develop and implement EHS programs.
  • Team player capable of meeting time‑sensitive, high‑pressure deadlines.
  • Experience preparing environmental reporting.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office suite.
