Electrical Controls Engineer (2 Openings)

Up to $110,000 + Quarterly Bonus (15% of yearly salary)
We are looking for two experienced Electrical Controls Engineers to join our team at a large-scale steel processing facility. This is a hands‑on role supporting critical production equipment, power distribution systems, and plant modernization projects.
The position is approximately 50% controls/software and 50% electrical hardware
, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy working across both disciplines.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve PLC‑controlled manufacturing equipment
- Support PLC, drive, and protection relay upgrade projects
- Assist with Level 2 controls modernization and brownfield expansion projects
- Work with medium‑voltage power distribution systems, substations, and plant utilities
- Troubleshoot electrical and automation issues to maximize equipment reliability
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on continuous improvement initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
- 5‑10 years of industrial controls or electrical engineering experience
- Experience with Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, and/or Schneider Modicon PLCs
- Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals, motor controls, and power systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings
- Experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments
- Medium‑voltage systems (1kV-69kV)
- Substations, switch gear, transformers, and power distribution
- VFDs, drives, and protection relays
- Steel, metals, mining, pulp & paper, chemical, or similar process industries
We're seeking practical, hands‑on engineers with strong troubleshooting skills and a background in maintaining and improving existing control systems. This role is best suited to someone with a plant engineering or maintenance-focused controls background rather than purely greenfield project experience.
Stage 1: Teams interview with the engineering team
Stage 2: Half‑day onsite visit including a facility tour and meetings with key stakeholders
