Electrical Controls Engineer (2 Openings)

Fort Wayne, IN

Up to $110,000 + Quarterly Bonus (15% of yearly salary)

We are looking for two experienced Electrical Controls Engineers to join our team at a large-scale steel processing facility. This is a hands‑on role supporting critical production equipment, power distribution systems, and plant modernization projects.

The position is approximately 50% controls/software and 50% electrical hardware
, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy working across both disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve PLC‑controlled manufacturing equipment
  • Support PLC, drive, and protection relay upgrade projects
  • Assist with Level 2 controls modernization and brownfield expansion projects
  • Work with medium‑voltage power distribution systems, substations, and plant utilities
  • Troubleshoot electrical and automation issues to maximize equipment reliability
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
  • 5‑10 years of industrial controls or electrical engineering experience
  • Experience with Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, and/or Schneider Modicon PLCs
  • Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals, motor controls, and power systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings
  • Experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments
Preferred Experience
  • Medium‑voltage systems (1kV-69kV)
  • Substations, switch gear, transformers, and power distribution
  • VFDs, drives, and protection relays
  • Steel, metals, mining, pulp & paper, chemical, or similar process industries
What We're Looking For

We're seeking practical, hands‑on engineers with strong troubleshooting skills and a background in maintaining and improving existing control systems. This role is best suited to someone with a plant engineering or maintenance-focused controls background rather than purely greenfield project experience.

Stage 1: Teams interview with the engineering team

Stage 2: Half‑day onsite visit including a facility tour and meetings with key stakeholders

A decision will be made shortly after the onsite interview.
