Principal Consultant - Building Diagnostics & Structural EngineeringTitle:
Forensic Electrical Engineer

Our client is a well-established, growing, multi-disciplinary forensic consulting firm, that are seeking a Forensic Electrical Engineer to lead electrical projects, supporting clients across the US. In this role you will manage complex cases, provide expert consultation, and serve as the primary point of contact for all forensic electrical work. You will also oversee the team’s efforts in identifying the cause and origin of electrical failures and support multidisciplinary teams on large, complex assignments.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and Manage Investigations
:
Direct and oversee forensic investigations into the cause and origin of electrical system failures, damages, and defects within industrial, commercial, and residential environments. - Failure Analysis and Consultation
:
Provide expert analysis on electrical system failures, evaluate design and maintenance procedures, assess construction quality, and offer recommendations for repair or replacement of damaged systems. - Team Leadership
:
Lead a multidisciplinary team, assigning tasks and responsibilities on complex forensic projects. Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and ensure the team's performance meets high-quality standards. - Client Communication and Reporting
:
Prepare and review clear, accurate, and comprehensive reports detailing findings, conclusions, and recommendations for clients. Act as the lead client liaison for all forensic electrical cases, maintaining and nurturing strong client relationships. - Expert Witness
:
Serve as an expert witness in legal proceedings, providing authoritative testimony on electrical failures and system defects.
- Education and Experience
:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required. A minimum of 8+ years of experience in evaluating electrical system and component failures within commercial or industrial settings. - Licensing
:
Active Professional Engineering (PE) license is required, with multi-state licensing or NCEES registration preferred. - Leadership Experience
:
Proven experience leading forensic investigations or managing engineering teams is a plus. - Expert Witness Experience
:
Prior experience offering expert witness testimony is a plus. - Communication Skills
:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical findings in a clear and concise manner to diverse audiences.
