USI Consultants, Inc., an Indiana based civil engineering and surveying firm, employs an outstanding group of civil engineers, surveyors, right‑of‑way specialists, construction inspectors, planners, landscape architects, technicians, designers, and client representatives. Cities, counties, state and federal agencies, other engineering firms, private developers and businesses are among the many that rely on USI to successfully complete their projects.
USI is seeking to continue to develop its Transportation team and is currently searching for a Utility Coordinator for our Indianapolis or Fort Wayne office. As a utility coordinator you will be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and become a valued contributor to a growing firm that serves clients throughout Indiana. The position requires strong communication, organization and technical skills.
The candidate must be personable and understand how to analyze communicate information to multiple layers of stakeholders on road and bridge projects.
- Collaborate with INDOT and Municipal clients, Project Managers, Design Engineers, and Utility stakeholders on transportation improvement projects.
- Evaluate Bridge/Roadway project plans for accurate utility information and evaluate conflicts.
- Track utility responses and due dates to keep projects on schedule.
- Prepare and update Utility Relocation Drawings and Project Gantt Charts.
- Track utility relocations as needed on projects.
- Maintain relationships with utility partners from the beginning of the project until the project has been completed.
- Prepare risk assessments and conflict analysis for projects.
- Ability to facilitate meetings between clients and utility partners.
- 3-5 years of professional work experience with INDOT or Transportation industry or utility industry.
- INDOT Certified Utility Coordinator or ability to become certified.
- Working knowledge of INDOT Design Manual standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD and Revu Bluebeam.
- Strong Organization and Communication skills.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar degree.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.
- Understanding of Utility Locating Equipment and 811 processes.
- Working knowledge of Subsurface Utility Engineering and ASCE 38 Standards.
- Working knowledge of INDOT Utility Management System (UMS).
- Understanding of INDOT Reimbursable Agreement Processes.
