Joint Use Technician - Joint Use Technician Sr

Position: Joint Use Technician - Joint Use Technician Sr.
What will you do:

* Inspecting poles, lines, and attachments

* Coordinating pole attachments between utilities and telecom companies

* Checking for safety and clearance issues

* Supporting make-ready work before new equipment is installed

* Keeping records and helping ensure compliance with utility standards

* Technical Proficiency:
Uses knowledge and experience to perform cost effective work in an efficient manner. Exhibits understanding of pertinent equipment, material, systems, and processes. Possesses intermediate level of computer literacy knowledge/skills.

* Leadership & Guidance:
Understands and works within appropriate policies and follows procedures. Provide training and guidance to employees where beneficial.

* Planning & Organization Ability:
Develops knowledge of time constraints for work activities and makes proper adjustments where needed.

* Problem Solving & Initiative:
Actively seeks out information to increase technical knowledge and job skills where beneficial to AEP.

* Communication & Interpersonal

Skills:

Contributes to team goals. Begins networking with peers to share information and encourage cooperation. Develops a Win-Win relationship. Understands corporate goals.

* Decision Making & Business Awareness:

What we are looking for:

Technician
- * Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/ Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields with a minimum of 2 years of related utility industry

* Or a high school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of related utility industry work experience.

* Valid Driver's License

Technician Sr
- * Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/ Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields, with a minimum of 4 years of related utility industry work experience,

* Or High school diploma or GED, with a minimum of 6 years of related utility industry work experience, including experience in work activities and projects requiring technical engineering knowledge.

* Valid Driver's license

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Demands
-Varies by location or territory. In some locations or territories, technicians must be able to:

* Walk right ways of various terrain in adverse conditions to patrol distribution power lines to determine damage.

* Carry and handle telescopic measuring sticks and switching sticks that weigh 11 pounds.

* May be required to use a brush axe (approx. 6 pounds) or machete (approx. 2 pounds) to clear brush for walking and staking in survey work.

SG 05:
Technician: $63,496-$79,369

SG 06:
Technician Sr: $74,551-$93,189
