Under the direction of the Finance and Business Manager, the Cashier receives payments and applies monies to participants’ financial accounts covering a variety of Allen County Community Corrections (ACCC) programs. The position checks participants in for programs and classes and enters information into ACCC’s financial software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Receive fee monies from participants, verify amounts, complete approved receipts, and return copies of receipts to participants.
- Maintain computer entries on all fees received from participants or third parties.
- Enter data into case‑management software for initial visits and intake fee payments for new participants.
- Assist program participants and staff with questions regarding financial account balances, appointments, and class attendance.
- Manage class attendance balances for participants and resolve attendance issues.
- Cross‑train and perform duties of the Finance Deputy for administrative functions such as inputting claims, payroll data, and community service billing.
- Act as backup cashier for other cashiers during absences or unavailability.
- Perform all other duties as assigned, including overtime as required.
- Apply principles of evidence‑based practices in interactions with program participants and in developing department programs.
- Model Pro‑Social behavior at times and in all places.
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year experience in cash handling, banking, or related field (preferred).
- Knowledge of or ability to learn job‑specific software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Quick Books for applying monies to client accounts, viewing class information, scheduling appointments, entering referral information, and locating program participants.
- Strong customer service skills for accepting participant payments and addressing questions and concerns.
- Ability to complete required Correctional EBP training programs and demonstrate competencies focused on empirical recidivism risk reduction strategies.
- Strong computer skills with financial software and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based principles and practices.
The Cashier maintains frequent communication with other County employees, program participants, and members of the general public when assisting participants and staff with questions on account balances, appointments, and classes.
WORKING CONDITIONSThe Cashier works in an office setting with frequent contact with potentially dangerous, violent, and abusive program participants convicted of various misdemeanor and felony offenses. The job requires standing and walking with some periods of frequent sitting, as well as frequent attention to detail and typing.
