Job SummaryThe Consumer Underwriter I is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and processing consumer loan applications while providing timely, accurate support to branches, dealerships, and internal team members. Also responsible for the processing of all consumer mortgage products. Work Saturday shifts as assigned. At the entry level, this role begins with zero lending authority and focuses on administrative and analytical tasks, including becoming proficient in processing assigned consumer mortgage products, and preparing consumer loan files for decisioning by authorized underwriters.
As proficiency is demonstrated and required training is successfully completed, the Consumer Underwriter I may be granted limited lending authority to decision consumer loan requests (excluding mortgages) within defined approval limits. After earning lending authority, the role expands to include independent decisioning of eligible consumer loans, continued support to branches and dealerships, and increasing responsibility in underwriting functions.
