Job Summary

The Mortgage Processor is to ensure a timely process from application to closing and funding of mortgage transactions. Review mortgage loan requests as they are submitted, assessing borrower’s financial situation and tailor appropriate solutions by maintaining a comprehensive understanding of various loan programs, including Conventional, FHA, VA USDA, New Construction and Portfolio. Skillfully structure, assemble, prepare, verify loan, facilitating the underwriting, closing, and funding processes by verifying and updating information, investigating inconsistencies, and correcting errors.

Act as point of contact between Mortgage Loan Originator, and Underwriter. Lock Loans with customer and investor, prepare lock documents and request documents required to complete the credit file for underwriting. Structure and price loans accurately.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred. Two to three years of consumer lending, mortgage lending, financial services, or related experience preferred. Knowledge of real estate lending and secondary market guidelines preferred. Knowledge of lending-related Federal and State regulations. Working knowledge of the Credit Union's products, services, and core database system preferred. Current NMLS registration required, or ability to obtain and maintain registration.

Must be able to travel to assigned work locations as scheduled.

Essential Elements of the Job
  • Provide accurate and timely service to our members, realtor associates, and Credit Union employees by following these service level standards:
    • Consistently manage loan pipelines to achieve timely application-to-close processing.
    • Time‑sensitive documents are delivered within regulatory guidelines.
    • Assist Mortgage Lending Manager in development of processes to aid efficiency.
  • Review applications as submitted, including notes contained therein, to be familiar with the circumstances of the loan request.
  • Review and process items required prior to submitting to underwriting such as credit report, paystubs, W-2’s, Verifications of Employment, Bank Statements, Purchase Agreement, Title Commitment, Homeowners Insurance policies etc. updating information as received, investigating inconsistencies, correcting errors, and resolving any issues to facilitate the underwriting, and ensuring a smooth closing and funding process.
  • Lock loan with Borrower and Investor, sending out lock documents and accompanying disclosures within required time frame.
  • Provide clear, effective communication with all parties when completing file-related activities.
  • Ensure the loan origination system is kept up to date with current and accurate information as the loan is processed, including notes for team members when completing file-related activities.
  • Understands and ensures compliance with all underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements according to federal and state laws and regulations as well as credit union guidelines.
  • Submit completed loan package to Underwriter for review and approval.
