Overview

The Children's Health Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and monitoring Early Childhood Health Services to include Disabilities, Mental Health, Health and Nutrition. Supervises Health Coordinator, Disabilities Services Specialist and Health Assistant.

Responsibilities
  • Meet the service delivery goals and objectives of the Head Start program/grant
  • Implement policies and procedures that ensure the quality of service delivery
  • Facilitate and monitor agreements with the Local Education Authorities (LEAs) and community partners
  • Build and maintain linkages and partnerships with educational institutions, service providers and community leaders
  • Must maintain confidentiality of communications and records
  • Responsible for annual Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) contract, monthly documentation and on-going child/family information as needed
  • Actively participate with the Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC)
  • Develop and implement quality assurance activities including classroom observations, site visitations, program self-assessment review, tracking, monitoring, consultation and follow-up
  • Fulfill and comply with the Head Start Act and all Early Head Start Performance Standards.

Management Role
  • Supervise and facilitate coordination of Early Childhood Services staff to include Disabilities Coordinator, Health Coordinator, Mental Health Consultant and Registered Dietitian
  • Meet requirements of the Health Component of the Head Start grant, including report generation
  • Participate in activities of Head Start/EHS Management Team, including management level decision making, developing and implementing of long and short range goals, objectives and policies
  • Expand and enhance the department as appropriate
  • Supervise the department staff and build an effective Head Start health team
  • Participate fully in the Brightpoint planning process, as role dictates
Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Public Health, Public Health Education, Education, Early Childhood Education, Nutrition or a related field
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer and mathematics skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-motivated, attentive to detail, well organized, dependable, productive and function well under deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Ability to relate well with individuals from a variety of socio-economic and professional backgrounds
  • Must be willing to travel to rural counties
