Medical Assistant
Summary Primary role is to assess patient needs to perform appropriate interventions to support patients in the orthopedic service line continuum of care. Works collaboratively with various members of the health care team to provide guidance and support to patients to reduce obstacles of care and facilitate a clear path back to baseline. Acts as a creative problem‑solver who serves as a knowledgeable resource and coordinator between clients, the healthcare team, and available community resources.
Assists patients with obtaining community assistance through referrals, coordination with appropriate resources, and scheduling and preparation for appointments. Helps direct patients to appropriate support while maintaining necessary records and data. Promotes patient education. Builds and maintains relationships with patients and service line providers to improve quality of care. Understands the uniqueness of the individual and seeks appropriate resources.
Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent with GED. Must have completed a medical assistant program that meets certification eligibility requirements.
Licensure/CertificationMust be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through National Health career Association (NHA) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) through American Medical Certification Association (AMCA). CPR required.

Medical assistant or physician office experience required. Referral management and scheduling experience is a bonus.
Other QualificationsMust have solid verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of clinical and clerical operations, service excellence, and clinical quality initiatives preferred. Must be familiar with computers; electronic medical record experience preferred. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
