JobPurpose
The HR Generalist is responsible for labor relations and HR activities in a manufacturing environment. You will perform administrative functions to support salary and hourly employees, maintain personnel records and complete transactions, investigate and resolve issues, administer and provide guidance to Operations on the provisions of the Global and Local Agreements, and participate in strategic workforce planning, hiring events, onboarding, and orientation.
Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesSpecific Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Builds and maintains relationships with Staff & Operations Team, Union Leadership, and hourly employees.
- Administer provisions of Agreements and counsel Management in interpretation of Agreements.
- Administration of policies and work rules.
- Advise Management on matters related to Union-Management relationships/issues.
- Complete and support payroll process.
- Maintain records pertinent to labor relations and hourly personnel.
- Preparation and participation in local negotiations.
- Investigation of grievances and assist Management with resolution.
- Conduct and advise Management on corrective discipline including coaching and progressive discipline.
- Participate in onboarding, orientation, transfer, exit, and assignment changes for both hourly and salary employees.
- Respond to day-to-day employee inquiries and requests.
- Generate HR analytical reports and metrics using HRIS system.
- Conduct training on HR topics.
- Manage the FMLA process, including tracking of time and follow-up with employees.
- Participate and support EEOC, NLRB, Metro, etc. inquiries and investigations.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
- Assist with workplace investigations and issue discipline when deemed necessary.
- Assist with bargained positions job postings, job bidding process, and candidate suitability; provide notification of successful bidder(s) to union, employees, and management.
- Other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Minimum of 1-5 years' HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Education minimum of a 4-year degree (BA or BS) in applicable area or education & experience equivalent.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong team-building and people skills, including the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build credibility with internal customers and associates.
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage a high workload of data and multitask.
- Honesty and integrity; must be a role model for others in the organization.
- Proficiency in Windows environment (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). SAP or other HR systems experience is a plus.
- ADP Payroll processing experience is a plus.
- Background in labor relations strongly preferred.
