OverviewThe Community Engagement Specialist will facilitate programs that support the educational needs of current and future student employees and align with goals of the organization. They will facilitate all aspects of Fort Wayne Metals' internship programs including recruitment, program development, onboarding and offboarding.
Education & Experience Requirements- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent demonstrated skills and abilities, required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Talent Development, Human Resources, or related field preferred, education in lieu of professional experience may be considered.
- Working knowledge of human resources disciplines, including compensation practices, staffing needs, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, federal and state employment laws.
- Marketing and communications experience preferred.
- Experience with hiring interviewed and non-interviewed positions preferred.
- Manage Fort Wayne Metals' internship programs.
- Collaborate with the Talent Sourcing team, coordinating the student hiring process, and developing rapport with secondary and post-secondary educational institutions, including representing Fort Wayne Metals (FWM) at career fairs, exploration fairs and community events.
- Collaborate with secondary and technical program institutions to develop strategic pipelines for talent to the region.
- Represent Fort Wayne Metals at a regional and state level to schools, non-profit organizations, economic development partners and peer companies to ensure Fort Wayne Metals continues to be a leading partner in all appropriate facets of the student and educations space, both in Indiana and Ohio.
- Research the Indiana Academic Standards and establish and coordinate FWM's offerings that provide high school students personal/professional opportunities. Facilitate communications between students, mentors, and institutions to coordinate logistics, curriculum requirements and student developmental progress.
- Lead and facilitate all student development and programming events.
- Assist with Indiana internship and apprenticeship programs and grants.
- Collaborate with members of the People and Strategy team and key stakeholders to facilitate programs and employee learning opportunities.
- Create, track, and maintain metrics about attendance, reach, and effectiveness of programs. Ensure compliance with employment laws while performing role and staying current on applicable laws through education and training.
- Collaborate with Corporate Communications to manage Talent Sourcing team's marketing and communication efforts.
- Recruit and hire full-time employees as needed.
- Provide back up support to Talent Sourcing team members in areas supporting the recruiting and hiring processes.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Excellent event planning and organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong business acumen, analytical skills for good decision making and customer service focus.
- Must be a self-starter, be able to work without close supervision and be capable of self-checking completed work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively present, communicate and interact with all levels of the organization and with external partners.
- Proficient collaboration across a wide range of internal and external networks.
- Ability to manage confidential information.
Physical Requirements
- Fast-paced office environment.
- Work hours consist of up to 40 hours per week.
- Regional travel up to 15% of time (secondary school/technical program meetings).
- Sitting and working at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to access all areas of operation, including second floors.
