Join Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW):
We are currently seeking a full-time, onsite Manager of HR Operations (40903) the Human Resources Department. The Manager of HR Operations has the primary responsibility of providing oversight of the day-to-day HR functions and is the immediate supervisor of the HR staff. This on-site position works closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and will serve as the stand-in, as needed and/or requested.
The pay for this position is $95,000.00 - $ annually.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of HR functions and processes among the HR team; reports up to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources
- Directly oversee and supervise the work of the Administrators and indirectly the Employee Services Assistant and Student Employees.
- Collaborate and work closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources on special projects and operational matters as needed.
- Build and support a collaborative HR Team that openly and effectively works together.
- Administer the implementation of Human Resources programs through the HR Team and ensure established standards and procedures are met and completed.
- Lead and mentor HR team members, providing regular coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities to build strong customer service skills.
- Collaborate with the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources to identify opportunities for improvement and remedy any discrepancies with HR operations.
- Work closely with and assist the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources on management and oversight of the HR budget.
- Review the database housing the HR budget on a regular basis to be prepared for discussions as needed.
- Manage and serve as the primary back-up in the absence of the Employee Relations and Organizational Development Administrator.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, OLS, Business Management, Organizational Development or related field.
- Minimum of seven years of Human Resources experience.
- Requires strong analytical skills to effectively make decisions based on knowledge of a situation and identified factors.
- Broad knowledge in employment law, compensation, organizational development, employee relations, safety, training, and development and benefits administration.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; this position requires a high level of interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills to effectively interact with employees, supervisors, PFW leadership, outside sources, vendors etc.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build trust across levels of the institution.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resources staff members.
- A track record of taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities, meeting deadlines, being dependable and having the ability and commitment to follow through.
- Ability to cultivate a positive team work environment that values open communication, resulting in a collaborative team environment with good morale and productivity.
- Strong technical skills; including proficiency with Microsoft Office and above average database knowledge.
- Ability to protect sensitive information, ensure confidentiality and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to details.
- Demonstrates honesty and loyalty to the University and support its mission and values; uses discretion in sharing university information with non-employees.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree
- Higher education experience a plus.
- Minimum of three years of progressive leadership experience; supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational development, employee relations, safety and training strongly preferred.
