The Human Resources Manager serves as the sole Human Resources professional for a multi-state organization, providing strategic leadership and hands‑on support across all areas of Human Resources. This position is responsible for managing the complete employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, compliance, compensation administration, and organizational development. The HR Manager partners closely with leadership to support business objectives while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.

Key Responsibilities Human Resources Leadership
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that support organizational goals.
  • Advise managers on employee relations, performance management, coaching, disciplinary actions, organizational changes, and employment decisions.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture through employee engagement and recognition initiatives.
  • Serve as the system administrator for HRIS, payroll, benefits, and applicant tracking systems.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including sourcing, interviewing, candidate selection, offer administration, and pre‑employment activities.
  • Support workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
Performance Management
  • Lead the organization's performance management process, including goal setting, annual reviews, calibration meetings, and performance documentation.
  • Coach managers on employee development, performance improvement plans, corrective action, and effective performance conversations.
Payroll Administration
  • Process bi‑weekly multi‑state payroll accurately and on time.
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing, wage and hour compliance, employee classifications, payroll tax reporting, and year‑end payroll activities.
  • Maintain payroll records, reconcile payroll data, and resolve payroll‑related issues.
Benefits Administration
  • Administer all employee benefit programs.
  • Lead annual open enrollment, benefit renewals, vendor management, and employee benefit education.
  • Manage employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, disability programs, and other applicable leave laws.
Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states.
  • Administer I‑9 compliance, EEO reporting, labor law postings, unemployment claims, workers' compensation, and required HR recordkeeping.
  • Maintain the employee handbook, HR policies, and state‑specific employment practices.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • SHRM‑CP, SHRM‑SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Human Resources experience with broad HR generalist responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now, including Payroll, HRIS, Benefits Administration, and Time & Attendance, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting a multi‑state workforce.
  • Experience serving as primary Human Resources professional.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional travel to company locations.
