Position Overview

The Leave & Disability Specialist provides guidance and support on leave management, disability, and ADA accommodations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

This role works with HR, administrators, occupational health, legal, payroll, and other departments to resolve complex leave and accommodation matters and establish consistent processes and best practices across divisions.

What You’ll Do
  • Monitor changes in federal, state, and local leave and accommodation laws and recommend updates to policies, processes, and documentation.
  • Translate legal requirements into clear guidance and deliver training to administrators and supervisors.
  • Review escalated and complex leave and accommodation matters and coordinate with the Benefits Manager, VP of HR, and Legal Counsel when appropriate.
  • Review leave balances, hours used, compliance tracking, and regulatory filing requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain reports and compliance documentation for regulatory agencies.
  • Provide guidance on leave management, the interactive accommodation process, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR, occupational health, legal, payroll, administrators, and other departments to resolve complex issues.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience administering, supporting, or consulting on FMLA, ADA, PWFA, disability, and leave management programs.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state leave laws and employment regulations, including FMLA, PWFA, and ADA.
  • Familiarity with HRIS, UKG preferred, leave management systems, case management software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Commitment to staying current on changing employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • CLMS or other leave-related certification preferred.
