Job Description Purpose
Perform a variety of technical duties involved in the inspection, installation, maintenance, adjustment, and repair of audio-visual equipment and public address systems. May also be asked to perform duties of a Network Technician involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer and network systems and related software and peripherals. Train and provide oversight to Network Technicians in the performance of audio-visual tasks.

Minimum Qualifications Any combination equivalent to: associate’s degree with course work in computer science or related field and three years increasingly responsible experience involving the installation, maintenance and repair of computer hardware, software, networks, audio visual equipment, and peripherals. If the incumbent does not meet the stated qualifications but possesses a high school diploma and basic knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer hardware, software, networks and peripherals, they can be selected for this position but must remain in the lowest three pay steps on the schedule until the qualifications can be met.
Must have strong office, computer and oral and written communication skills. Incumbents must possess knowledge of the technical aspects, methods, processes, principles, practices, procedures, and terminology used in assigned field. Incumbents must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license.
Essential Functions
Inspect a variety of audio-visual equipment such as projectors, amplifiers, televisions, video and cassette recorders, DVD players and language labs to assure proper functioning; troubleshoot, diagnose and repair malfunctions.Maintain audio-visual equipment in proper operating condition; repair or replace defective parts and components as necessary; clean, adjust and lubricate parts and components; disassemble and assemble equipment and devices as needed.Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve malfunctions in public address systems, speakers, microphones, intercoms, headsets, clock systems, bell systems, scoreboards and other related equipment.Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in audio-visual equipment and public address systems.Identify and notify appropriate personnel of equipment misuse and need for outside repair services.Perform work from ladders and scaffolding as needed.Operate a variety of equipment including testers, meters and various hand and power tools; drive a vehicle to conduct work.Install, configure, modify and maintain computer software and peripherals to assure the smooth running of computer work stations; respond to user needs and requests; configure hardware and software to assure proper computer operations and network connectivity.Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve/report hardware, software and application malfunctions; install, configure, maintain and repair a variety of peripherals and network components such as servers, hubs, switches, routers, cabling, modems and printers as required.Train and provide guidance to Network Technicians in the performance of audio- visual tasks; assist employees with performing duties as needed; demonstrate proper job performance skills including problem‑solving and record‑keeping functions.Prepare computer work stations for staff or student use in individual and lab settings; install, upgrade and update computer software and applications as needed; observe elements of computers, networks and systems for evidence of incorrect performance and make adjustments as needed.Provide technical training and assistance to District personnel concerning the operation of audio-visual equipment as needed; respond to inquiries and provide detailed and technical information concerning related practices, procedures, applications and malfunctions.Prepare, develop…
