What you ll be doing
Central Data Engineering Expertise
- Serve as the primary technical resource for Dataiku initiatives across multiple actuarial and business teams.
- Support citizen developers by advising on scalable and consistent data sourcing, transformation (ETL), and workflow orchestration practices.
- Develop and maintain reusable components, templates, standards, and best practices for data engineering and Dataiku usage.
- Design, build, and deploy Dataiku-based web applications that surface analytical outputs and workflows to business end users.
- Implement and integrate embedded AI and generative AI capabilities within Dataiku, including LLM-powered features, AI Services, and Prompt Studios as the platform evolves.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging Dataiku features and capabilities, serving as the internal subject matter expert on platform advancement.
- Conduct upfront design and approach reviews for Dataiku workflows and data pipelines.
- Provide architectural recommendations, ensuring solutions follow sound data management, quality, and governance principles.
- Perform process and code reviews to drive consistency, reliability, and maintainability across federated teams.
- Act as a first line of defense for technical issues within the actuarial department.
- Translate business needs into technical requirements for IT partners.
- Facilitate issue resolution, escalate appropriately, and monitor follow‑ups to ensure timely and accurate outcomes.
- Partner with business teams to convert manual processes into automated, governed workflows.
- Demonstrate new capabilities, conduct proof‑of‑concept work, and help teams understand appropriate tool usage.
- Support continuous improvement efforts across financial reporting, reserve analytics, data preparation, and other actuarial processes.
- Author and maintain documentation for standards, reusable patterns, and production processes.
- Ensure all changes adhere to proper governance and change management procedures.
Must‑haves:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, other quantitative major or equivalent work experience
- 5–7+ years of experience in data engineering, actuarial data work, analytics engineering, or similar roles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and mentor non‑technical partners.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data architecture principles, and data quality best practices.
- Hands‑on experience with Dataiku, including advanced capabilities
- FSA or ASA designation, or significant actuarial domain experience.
- Experience building or deploying Dataiku web apps, implementing Dataiku change control practices and embedded AI capabilities as required
- Experience with modern data technologies such as Python, SQL, Spark, AWS, Hive, Tableau, or similar.
- Proven ability to learn new tools quickly, work independently, and lead through ambiguity.
- Innovative, self‑starting mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.

The pay range for this position is $96,900 - $176,200 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role.
The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
