Sweetwater Sound is building an analytics ecosystem that supports real business decisions across multiple teams, and they need an Analytics Engineer to help make that possible. This onsite role in Fort Wayne, Indiana partners closely with data engineering, data science, business intelligence, and stakeholders to design and maintain the organization’s analytic data architecture.

The work centers on enabling analytics use cases, standardizing data flowing into the warehouse, and delivering a semantic layer that teams can rely on through the BI platform. You will also apply engineering discipline to analytics code so models and pipelines stay accurate, testable, and dependable.

What you’ll do

Enable and unlock analytics use cases for the merchandising & service teams by creating and maintaining data models and pipelines enriched with institutional and departmental knowledge
Transform and standardize raw data loaded into the data warehouse by data engineering so end users can consume it efficiently
Create and maintain the semantic layer used by the BI platform
Use software engineering best practices for analytics code, including version control, testing, and continuous integration, and participate in code reviews to prevent bad data or broken pipelines
Maintain data documentation and definitions, and train users on data availability and structure
Monitor analytic data platform health by avoiding redundancy and identifying data gaps
Support occasional ad-hoc analysis and provide data for urgent business needs

What you bring

Technical competence balanced with an empathetic understanding of business needs
Domain fit for one or more areas, including:
- Merchandising & Service: vendors & manufacturers, products & services, pricing, demand & planning, purchase orders, billing/credits, inspections, repairs & installs, backlogs & queues
- Distribution Center & Shipping: experience supporting large logistics operations, including receiving, picking, packing, returns, and inspections
- Marketing: understanding of marketing tactics, principles, strategies, and how marketing plans drive revenue
- Sales & Music Store: experience supporting a multi-channel sales organization, including the overall sales process, communications, common sales and retail sales KPIs and how to calculate them, customer knowledge, foot traffic, and CRMs
Multiple years of experience in data design and ETL
SQL knowledge is critical
Proficiency with dbt and other modern data stack tools
Understanding of cloud data warehouse architecture and best practices, with Big Query experience a plus
Looker/LookML knowledge is a plus
Experience with git including CI/CD processes
Self-motivated approach with strong ownership, urgency, and drive
Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Strong communication skills to interface effectively across all levels of the organization
Ability to handle sensitive data confidentially
Passion for Sweetwater and the team’s success, including interest in the data products built for internal customers
