• Draft new patent applications focused on software inventions with clear technical narratives and strong claim strategy
• Manage prosecution from filing through allowance, including office‑action responses, interviews, amendments, and examiner strategy
• Translate complex product concepts into patentable subject matter, defensible claim scope, and portfolio roadmaps
• Partner directly with founders, in‑house counsel, product leaders, and engineering teams to capture inventions efficiently
• Conduct patentability and landscape analysis to guide filing decisions, continuation strategy, and competitive positioning
• Maintain excellent client communication, timelines, and docket hygiene across multiple matters

• JD from an accredited law school
• Licensed attorney in good standing
• Registration to practice before the USPTO
• At least 5 years of software‑focused patent preparation and prosecution experience at a law firm
• At least 100 patents drafted from scratch
• Strong drafting skills across specs, claims, and responses, with a track record of moving applications forward efficiently
• Comfort working with technical stakeholders and asking the right questions to uncover invention novelty
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines with consistent quality and minimal supervision
• Experience with AI‑related inventions, cloud systems, cybersecurity, distributed systems, databases, networking, or similar software domains

• Experience advising on portfolio strategy for product lines, platform releases, and roadmap‑driven filing programs
• Prior client‑facing responsibility including scoping, timelines, and expectation‑setting
• Exposure to post‑grant support, informal validity risk review, and freedom‑to‑operate style issue spotting

• You can turn a rough engineering whiteboard into a clean invention story and claim set without hand‑holding
• You’re comfortable owning a docket, driving examiner strategy, and keeping clients proactively updated
• You write like a strategist, not a stenographer, and you draft claims with purpose
• You enjoy collaborating with builders and you know how to get crisp answers from technical teams
• You’ve built repeatable workflows that keep quality high while moving fast
