Custodian​/Maintenance

Job Summary

The part-time Custodian/Maintenance Person is responsible for ensuring the facility and grounds are clean, well-maintained, and safe for all occupants. This position performs a variety of janitorial duties and assists with minor maintenance tasks, working with minimal supervision.

• Cleaning and sanitation
  • Perform routine janitorial tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and fixtures; restock supplies like soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Dust furniture, fixtures, and surfaces throughout the building.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
• Building and equipment maintenance
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, unclogging toilets, and fixing small leaks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on cleaning equipment to ensure it remains in good working order.
  • Report the need for major repairs or maintenance issues to property deacon and deacon board.
  • Conduct routine checks to ensure building security, including locking doors and windows.
• Groundskeeping and outdoor maintenance
  • Perform groundskeeping duties, such as picking up litter.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal from walkways during winter.
• Event setup
  • Assist with setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and other equipment for special events.
• Inventory and supply management
  • Monitor and manage cleaning supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Submit requests to order new supplies as needed.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• One or more years of experience in janitorial or general maintenance work is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Mechanically inclined
• Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
• Familiarity with cleaning products, techniques, and safety procedures.
