Overview

The Project Manager will plan, oversee and lead IT related projects from idea through completion. They will provide leadership by aligning resources, monitoring progress, and keeping stakeholders informed to ensure IT related projects are completed in a timely fashion and are done within the confines of Fort Wayne Metals goals and vision. This role will also be expected to use their knowledge and experience to assist with coordinating and mentoring FWM IT team members;

along with assisting with the planning and forecasting of future IT endeavors.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Project Management or equivalent demonstrated skills and abilities.

Job Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Management

  • Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value.
  • Maintaining project time frames and budgeting estimates.
  • Prepare and distribute progress reports.
  • Align resources for projects by coordinating project team members and developing schedules and individual responsibilities.
  • Organize and lead project status and working meetings.
  • Manage risks and issues.
  • Correct deviations from plans.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Negotiate with stakeholders and create alignment and ownership around a solution.
  • Assist with prioritization of projects/tasks to be completed to meet goals.
  • Ensure software validation is performed per quality requirements.

Team Coordination

  • Mentoring/coaching team members as needed to develop and optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the teams.
  • Help plan and manage team goals, project schedules and new information.
  • Help supervise current projects and assist with coordination of team members to keep work on track.

Process Management and Improvement

  • Help define and manage project management processes and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices based upon IT Project Management methodology.
  • Help implement an effective system of project governance.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Skills Needed

  • Effective interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of business need with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Proven ability to lead software development projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met.

Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in using appropriate project management tools such as:

  • Agile Project Management tools
  • Microsoft Office tools and project scheduling software

Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level.

  • Creative approach to problem-solving using root cause analysis with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view.
  • Capacity to manage high stress situations.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage various project elements simultaneously.
  • Leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Detail oriented.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Fast-paced office environment within a manufacturing facility.
  • Appropriate PPE must be worn where posted and required.
  • Sitting and working at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to access all areas of operation.
