Position

Summary

The Operations Manager is a member of the Store Management team and helps people on their path to better health by driving store execution and performance while building consumer loyalty to CVS/pharmacy through a focus on excellent customer service. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the Operations Manager maintains an engaged, productive store team through strong leadership, demonstrating initiative and leading by example.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
  • Sales and inventory management
  • Employee staffing, training, and development
  • Financial management
  • Customer service leadership

Note:

The Operations Manager is not part of the CVS/pharmacy Retail Management Development Program and is not eligible for direct promotion to Store Manager. Candidates seeking a path to Store Manager should apply for Store Manager in Training openings.

Essential Functions Management
  • Lead others and work effectively with store crews
  • Supervise, assign and direct activities of the store’s crew
  • Effectively communicate information to store crew and supervisors in an open and timely manner
  • Support Store Manager with action plans for operational and service improvement
Customer Service
  • Assist customers with their questions, problems and complaints
  • Promote CVS customer service culture (greet, offer help, and thank)
Pharmacy Functions
  • Promote a path to better health by engaging customers and educating them about CVS services and products
  • Keep the customer top of mind at all times, prioritizing needs, displaying genuine care and empathy, and ensuring complete satisfaction
  • Understand and follow applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy
  • Follow workflow procedures with an in-depth understanding of each pharmacy workstation (Pick‑Up, Drop‑Off, Drive‑Thru, Production)
  • Deliver results while balancing quality and efficiency, maintaining accuracy and meeting workflow and inventory goals
  • Identify and resolve potential problems to ensure customers receive medications on time; collaborate with pharmacy teams, medical staff, insurance companies, and customers to resolve issues
  • Actively seek opportunities to expand clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge to assist customers effectively
  • Contribute to high‑performing teams, remaining flexible for schedule and business needs and adapting to changes
  • Must be registered and maintain registration according to local and state pharmacy regulations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a retail manager or supervisor
Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Preferred but not required).
