What you’ll need to succeed as a Senior Service Center Manager at XPO
Minimum qualifications:
5 years of supervisory experience
Thorough knowledge of and experience with the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) industry, DOT, FMCSA, and other transportation rules and regulations, OSHA standards, hazardous materials regulations, NMFC and Tariff rules and company policies and procedures
Experience with Microsoft Office
Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends and travel as needed
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor s degree, 5 years of related work experience or equivalent military experience
Experience balancing operations leadership with external sales and relationship building
Experience with process improvement
Able to multitask and prioritize work with excellent organizational skills
Experience managing in an LTL environment
Solid analytical skills-problem solving skills to improve multiple metrics to hit the budget
Exceptional leadership, communication, presentation and administrative skills
Experence in sales or sales leadership
Experience managing P&L

What you’ll do on a typical day:
Supervise and lead all service center employees; oversee timekeeping, payroll administration, personnel changes, and ongoing coaching, discipline, training, and development of your staff.
Own and achieve P&L goals for the service center, including attaining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Lead your supervisory team to plan and attain daily and long term labor goals to ensure budget, service and quality goals are achieved. Ensure, teach, coach and train to ensure that quality and service goals are achieved; address any deviations from standard.
Provide information frequently to all employees about service center productivity and company policies and procedures
Conduct regular team meetings to promote engagement, review productivity, safety, and service, and performance, communicate operational updates, and address questions or concerns
Research, monitor and implement all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies
Support sales-driven growth by ensuring operational execution meets customer requirements, addressing service gaps, and identifying opportunities to improve yield and profitability
Partner with Sales to drive revenue growth and retain key business by participating in customer visits, translating customer needs into operational plans, resolving service issues impacting key accounts, and supporting new business onboarding while executing local strategies to strengthen customer relationships
Develop relationships and engage with the top 10-15 local, revenue-driving customer accounts
Promote and enforce safe and clean facility and equipment through adherence to safety and housekeeping practices/procedures, regular safety briefings, timely training completion, and strict adherence to driver and vehicle DOT compliance, OSHA standards, hazardous materials handling requirements, and environmental regulations, taking immediate action to correct unsafe behaviors and conditions
Hold the team accountable to route proper documentation and oversee procedure control for hazardous material shipments
Comply with all applicable laws/regulations as well as all company policies/procedures
Lead the “Self-Assessment” process to verify adherence to all service center operational processes and standards through recurring compliance checkpoints
Senior Service Center Managers are required to:
Frequently lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 75 lbs
